David Jason 'embarrassed' of expanding trophy cabinet

Sir David Jason finds adding new trophies to his ever-expanding collection "embarrassing".

The veteran actor picked up the gong for Outstanding Drama Performance for his role in ITV1's 'A Touch of Frost' at the National Television Awards (NTAs) last night (26.01.11), and revealed he plans to put the award in his trophy room with all his other prizes.

David - who has previously won a number of NTAs and BAFTAs for his TV work - told BANG Showbiz: "We have a nice television room and it's got a lot of shelves with a lot books and stuff and all around this room are all these wonderful awards so it can be a bit embarrassing I suppose. I have won a few, I must admit so I'm very proud of that."

David, 70 - best known for playing wheeler-dealer Derek 'Del Boy' Trotter in comedy 'Only Fools and Horses' - thinks he has survived in the industry for so long because he is determined to continually improve as an actor.

He added: "I suppose what drove me was the love of the business and the drive towards being a better actor than when I first became a professional actor. I've always done that and always very much enjoyed the process. It's the journey and not the arrival and I think that's probably part of my longevity."
