Piers Morgan hits back at Jeremy Clarkson

Piers Morgan has branded Jeremy Clarkson an "ageing, pot-bellied Brit".

The CNN talk show host was amused to hear the 'Top Gear' star - who he has a long-running feud with - has pledged to never appear on his programme, because he would never have invited him on anyway.

Alongside a link to Jeremy's original comments, Piers tweeted: "Jeremy Clarkson bans himself from my CNN show."

This was quickly followed by: "UPDATE: just broke terrible news to my @PiersTonight staff in NYC. Bemused faces, followed by collective: 'Who is Jeremy Clarkson?

"Clarification for American followers: Jeremy Clarkson's an ageing, pot-bellied Brit who drives cars and once baby-punched me in the head.

"They're not allowed to ban themselves when they're already banned. That's just cheating. (sic)"

While the former 'Britain's Got Talent' judge is not a fan of Jeremy, the 50-year-old presenter has a fan in Australian cricketer Shane Warne.

Responding to Piers' tirade, he tweeted: "Jeremy clarkson is an absolute genius and has the best show on tv, he's brilliant and v funny. People are allowed to say no bud (sic)"

Speaking about 'Piers Morgan Tonight', Jeremy had said: "Even if CNN recorded that show in my back garden I still wouldn't go on it. I'm utterly thrilled that Piers Morgan has that job because it means he's 3,000 miles away from where I am."

Piers and Jeremy's feud stems back to 2000 when the then-Daily Mirror editor published pictures of his foe kissing a BBC producer.

The motoring expert later threw a glass of water over the broadcaster during an argument, and in March 2004 had to be restrained by security when he punched Piers at the British Press Awards.

However, in 2006, the feud was believed to be over, with Piers saying: "There should always be a moment when you finally down cudgels, kiss and make up."
