Steve Jones is in the running for the US 'X Factor' presenting job.
The Welsh T4 host - who has romanced a string of Hollywood beauties, including Hayden Panettiere, Halle Berry and Pamela Anderson in the past - confirmed he has been approached about the role, but is keen not to "jinx anything" by getting his hopes up too much.
He told The Sun newspaper: "I'm hearing good things. I don't want to jinx anything by thinking I've got it. One day I hear it's going my way, one day I'm less sure. I'd love to do it, I really would."
However, in a bitter blow to fellow presenter Dermot O'Leary - who is also in the running for the job - hunky Steve is believed to have clinched the deal on the grounds that he is "better looking" than the UK 'X Factor' presenter.
Despite being open about his desire to get the gig, Dermot recently admitted he thinks an American star may just pip him to the post.
He said: "Who knows what factors will come into play? I don't know what they are looking for. I'd have me and Cheryl Cole. Seriously. I think there is room for three Brits on the show, but at the same time I get the fact that they might want an American doing the presenting.
"I'd be miffed if an American came over here and took a presenting job I thought I could do."
