Kate Middleton's determination to have a low key wedding means she will never be as popular as Princess Diana.
Kate, 29, and her fiance, Britain's Prince William are said to be trying to keep their April 29 nuptials as simple as possible but Darren Davis - who released a graphic novel about William's mother Diana in 2010 - thinks Kate's toned down wedding will affect her world wide popularity.
He told the Chicago Sun Times: "There is no comparison. For millions, the fascination with Diana started with the fairy-tale wedding and carried through her iconic life. Collectors are still Diana fanatics.
"[However], the younger couple has opted for a less opulent and almost common exchange of vows, which takes away from the fantasy the fuelled the Diana frenzy."
Darren has previously revealed plans for his company Bluewater Productions to produce a comic book 'Fame: The Royals' based on the young couple's eight year romance.
He said: "Here you have two people trapped in a fishbowl.
"As a non-royal how do you navigate in the sudden storm of fame? As someone used to the spotlight, how do you maintain a veil of privacy?
"As Americans, we are fascinated by the British royals.
"William and Kate are the embodiment of fame and people (on both sides of the Atlantic) can't get enough of them."
