AP Top 25 College Football Scores #4 Texas Longhorns Keep Big 12 Title Hopes Alive with Win Over Kansas Jayhawks

Colt McCoy was 24/34 passing for 255 yards and two touchdowns and added 78 yards rushing and a TD, Quan Cosby had 6 receptions for 70 yards and a touchdown and Brandon Collins had a pair of catches for 42 yards and a score as the #4 Texas Longhorns (10-1, 6-1) knocked off the Kansas Jayhawks (6-5, 3-4) 35-7 in a Big 12 battle on Saturday.

Vondrell McGee put the Longhorns on the board in the first quarter with a 14-yard touchdown run and McCoy added a second score with 14 seconds remaining in the first half when he crossed the goal line from 4-yards out and Texas was up 14-0 at the break.

Texas then made it 21-0 on their first drive of the second half as Chris Ogbonnaya carried it in from 10-yards out but Kansas finally answered as Todd Reesing hit Dexton Fields on a 7-yard toss and the Jayhawks were within 21-7.

McCoy quickly ended any thought Kansas might have of an upset as he put the Longhorns on the board after finding Cosby on a 9-yard touchdown pass and then hit Collins on a 36-yard TD toss just before the third frame ended.

Texas will next face Texas A&M on Nov.27 but they will be praying for an Oklahoma victory over Texas Tech next Saturday to force a three-way tie in the Big 12 North. If that happens and Texas beats Texas A&M they stand a good shot at reaching the Big 12 championship game and playing for the BCS national title.

Kansas will face Missouri on Nov. 29.
