AP Top 25 College Football Scores: #13 Georgia Bulldogs Hang on to Beat Auburn Tigers in SEC Battle

Matt Stafford threw for 215 yards and two touchdowns, Knowshon Moreno rushed for 131 yards and added 58 yards receiving and a TD and A.J. Green had 81 yards receiving and a touchdown as the #13 Georgia Bulldogs (9-2, 6-2) escaped with a 17-13 victory over the Auburn Tigers (5-6, 2-5) in a classic SEC battle on Saturday.

It was Auburn who put the first points on the board as Kodi Burns hit Mario Fannin on a 56-yard touchdown pass with 12 seconds left in the opening frame but the extra point was no good so the Tigers took a 6-0 lead into the second quarter. The Bulldogs finally answered late in the second frame as Moreno scored on a 35-yard toss from Stafford and Georgia went into halftime with a 7-6 lead.

Georgia got some breathing room late in the third quarter when Blair Walsh connected from 27-yards out for a 10-6 lead but Auburn grabbed the lead early in the fourth when Fannin went 35-yards for a touchdown and the Tigers were in front 13-10.

Stafford answered the Tigers TD with a 17-yard touchdown pass to Green with 8:24 left on the clock, Auburn’s missed field goal in the first quarter came back to haunt them as they trailed by four late in the fourth as they drove down to the Georgia 21-yard-line but failed to convert on a fourth down and on their final drive of the game they were on the Georgia 14-yardline but a fourth down toss fell incomplete and the Bulldogs had the win.

Georgia will face Georgia Tech on Nov. 29 while Auburn looks to become bowl eligible when they face Alabama in two weeks.
