A high school student in Washington County, Utah died Saturday evening when the prop gun he was playing with discharged. While the blank-shooting prop gun carried no bullets the gas in the gun has the same energy and when the trigger was pulled the 17-year-old suffered severe head injuries.
The accident occurred just moments before the Desert Hills high school student was to take the stage in the play “Oklahoma!” He was found by other students with the pistol still in his hands.
He was rushed to Dixie Regional Medical Center but was pronounced dead later in the evening.
