Royal couple to honeymoon in Britain?

Britain's Prince William and Kate Middleton are planning a budget honeymoon in the Scilly Isles, off the coast of the South West of England.

The couple - who will marry at Westminster Abbey, London on April 29 - have also reportedly asked friends to make donations to charity instead of giving them extravagant wedding gifts because they are conscious of Britain's current economic troubles.

A palace aide told People magazine: "William and Kate are acutely aware that in these difficult times being seen to take a luxury honeymoon would not look good and send out entirely the wrong signal.

"Neither has lavish tastes and a domestic location is ideal to ensure they are secure."

Their honeymoon in the Scilly Isles will see William revisit the location where he holidayed at the age of seven with his father Prince Charles, brother Prince Harry and late mother Princess Diana.

Meanwhile the future king and his bride will make their first official visit as a royal married couple to Canada in July.

They will tour the country for two weeks, starting on the east coast and ending in British Columbia in the west while Kate, 29, is expected to undertake at least one solo engagement.

One source said: "It is being viewed as a major tour and the first chance people will have to judge if William has chosen his wife wisely."
