Julie Gundlach of St. Louis, MO. is a young mother who received some gruesome news when she was 35 years old. She went to undergo a procedure to have a tumor removed from her pelvic area. It was initially assumed that the young mother was suffering from ovarian cancer and the procedure involved the complete removal of her reproductive organs in a hysterectomy. On further probing the doctor found out that the true cause of her discomfort was a rare form of cancer that occurs due to asbestos exposure. She was suffering from mesothelioma and the doctor suggested she call a mesothelioma attorney to get her affairs in order. The statement was tantamount to a death sentence pronounced for her.
Awarding Her Courage
Gundlach decided to make her case known so that others can be saved. She hopes to save her own life so that she can be there for her children. Good thing she already had her children. At the same time, she says that while a mesothelioma lawyer may do his best and get a settlement that will cover the expenses of the treatment; a cure for the dreaded disease is of greater priority. It is too bad there are so many regulations in medical science and the costs are so high; perhaps cures could be found quicker and easier to complex diseases like this.
The Alan Reinstein Award
She will share her inspiring story at the 2011 International Asbestos Awareness Conference which will be held in April. Her courage and positivity will be honored with The Alan Reinstein Award. She has done some amazing work to increase awareness about mesothelioma and in extending support and help to families that are affected by the disease. Any mesothelioma attorney would also be proud of her achievements, spirit, and stamina.
