'Gnomeo and Juliet' star Emily Blunt was scared of garden gnomes as a child.
The 27-year-old actress - who plays one of the ornamental creatures that come to life in her latest role - says when she was younger she found inanimate objects that looked human intimidating.
She said: "I was always scared or skeeved out by anything that resembled people when I was a kid - like puppets and things like that. Dolls were the depths of hell to me. I was a rather anxious child apparently.
"I remember my friend had garden gnomes and I remember being intimidated and a bit scared of them when I was very young.
Luckily the British beauty has got over her fear and says now she would even have a gnome made in her likeness.
She said: "I think I know someone who's got a garden gnome of themselves which is quite strange. But I wouldn't mind having one. That could be fun."
Emily, who shot to fame after appearing in 'The Devil Wears Prada' in 2006, went on to say she loves her job because she never knows where it will lead her.
The brunette explained: "I love the unknown. I love the element of surprise. I've always felt really inspired by it. I love the spontaneity of the job. I think you can't really fight against it. You can't strategise."
