Demonstrating one of the few positive growth rates during the worsening Credit Crunch, specialized mobile provider Webtel.mobi continued to experience a strong increase in signup since its international launch last week.
Support for the company has been growing among hard-pressed consumers, as well as from established Consumer Organisations with which it has met to present and demonstrate its product.
According to Stuart Sterzel, CEO of Webtel.mobi, the company's growth is due to the sound fundamentals of its product offering.
"The Webtel.mobi product delivers the same service, with high quality and simplicity of use, for a fraction of the price. One clear example of this is a mobile to mobile call from the USA to China - which from our service costs only 3 cents per minute, as opposed to several Pounds, Euros or Dollars per minute with other providers. Another example is our text message sending, which costs on average between four to nine cents per text for local and international texts - as opposed to average texts costs of 20 cents to 50 cents or more from standard providers.
In fact, many people are using the service not just over their mobile phones, but are also accessing the Webtel.mobi site from their desktops and laptops to use for connecting their landlines for landline to landline calls, where the average calls costs for most local or international calls is three to four cents per minute.
With our product's cost reductions of up to 80% - and sometimes more - for the same service, it is completely understandable that people will find the Webtel.mobi service very attractive during this difficult economic period, when everyone is trying to economize as much as possible".
The Webtel.mobi service is provided over a robust delivery platform, with 30 000 delivery servers spread over all continents, which pass the command to connect calls or deliver texts to the Next Generation Switches. This is to ensure that the company is at all times able to provide an uninterrupted and high quality calling and texting service to all users.
Webtel.mobi is gearing up for heightened activity over the end of year period. Christmas Day, New Years Day and other special days in 2007 saw between 205 Million to 2.2 Billion text messages sent per day, per country - and up to five times that amount in calls. 2008 is anticipated to see even higher texting and calling volumes - due to the more than 1.15 Billion additional mobile phones which entered the market this year.
Webtel.mobi's aim over this period is to provide consumers the ability to send the same number of messages or make the same number of calls over this period as they did last year - or more - but to help them to do it in a way that leaves 80% of the money that they would usually spend on these texts and calls in their wallets.
Says Stuart Sterzel - "If we're able to do that, we can come as close as possible to providing an ethical commercial service in these difficult times, which keeps to a sustainable business model for the company, but at the same time provides the maximum cost relief and lowest possible prices to the consumer".
