Britain's Prince William and Kate Middleton have reportedly decided to snub a number of celebrities from their wedding celebrations.
The couple's April 29 nuptials at Westminster Abbey will be limited to friends, family and those who play a direct part in their public and private lives leaving no room for famous faces such as Sir Paul McCartney and Dame Helen Mirren.
A source told The Sun: "William and Kate have agonised over who to invite. They have drawn up a list of roughly 2,000 people they feel should be there.
"There's no room for the great and good you might normally see at society weddings."
It was recently revealed Barack Obama and his wife Michelle will not be invited as the security costs of hosting the US President would be too high.
Prince Charles' cousin Princess Michael of Kent has also reportedly been left off the guest list at the request of William's father.
A senior courtier told The Independent:"The prince has always considered himself the thinking person's royal. It has been a source of irritation that, not only is Princess Michael something of an intellectual but that, unlike his, both her children have gone to university."
Celebrities who are tipped to be asked to the wedding include Prince William's close friends David and Victoria Beckham and Elton John and his husband David Furnish.
However an invitation does not guarantee entry to either of the two receptions after the ceremony.
