Geri Halliwell didn't need Victoria's fashion advice

Geri Halliwell didn't ask Victoria Beckham for advice when she designed her swimwear range.

The former Spice Girl is releasing her own collection of bikinis for British high street chain Next but didn't feel the need to call her friend - who has her own ranges of denim, dresses and sunglasses - for help.

Geri also insist she doesn't share her ex-bandmate's passion for designer wear.

The 38-year-old star told Easy Living magazine: "I actually didn't ask her advice on this one. Victoria's doing very high-end, high fashion, and what she's done is brilliant. But she's always been like that. I remember when I was in the studio writing the lyrics for 'Who Do You Think You Are', and Victoria had been out shopping, and had gone missing for hours; she came in and she showed me these Manolo Blahnik shoes - and I didn't know they were designer.

"I didn't really know what designer was".

The petite beauty also revealed she made the now iconic Union Jack dress - which she wore when the Spice Girls performed at the 1997 BRIT Awards - "out of tea towels".

She said: "The stylist told me not to wear it - I'm really glad I ignored her."
