CNN anchor Anderson Cooper said he and his production crew were attacked by protesters in Cairo, Egypt on Wednesday. In a post on his Twitter page earlier today, Cooper said he was “punched and kicked repeatedly” in a crowd of demonstrators supporting Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

“Got roughed up by thugs in pro-mubarak crowd..punched and kicked repeatedly. Had to escape. Safe now. Its getting really bad in front of egyptian museum,” Cooper, 43, wrote.

CNN’s Steven Brusk Tweeted Cooper was “punched 10 times in the head.”

A CNN report said neither Anderson nor any of the crew members were seriously hurt. The crew continues to report on the political protests and escalating violence.
