EMPLOYMENT MODEL HAS TIMELY APPEAL

Editor Forecasts Benefits for Employers & Employees

As the job market tries to adjust to the needs of both employers and employees in tough economic times, it is more important than ever to develop new employment models.  Now into the second month of 2011, Steve Anderson of Workamper News forecasts more employers attracted to the Workamper News model.  Consequently, where there are jobs, there are applicants looking for a new way to be noticed.

“Serving the needs of both Employers and Employees is very important in a time of economic flux,” says Editor Anderson, “when each face challenges in meeting their needs.”  “You could say at Workamper News, we serve Two Masters."

Obviously, it’s working.  Workamper News’s largest employer client is Amazon, who utilizes the services provided by Workamper News.  Workampers worked out so well for them at their Campbellsville, Kentucky, Coffeyville, Kansas and Fernley, Nevada fulfillment facilities, they are now seeking to employ thousands of Workampers for their fulfillment centers across the United States in 2011.

“I expect more and more commercial industries to look to Workampers as a source for their employment base.  Workampers are a different breed: they are enthusiastic, caring, and take pride in their work: therefore valuable to the Employer’s bottom line,”   adds Anderson.

Workamper News doesn’t find it odd to serve Two Masters.    On one side, there are the Workamper-employees who usually want to work seasonally and live the RV lifestyle; on the other, are the Employers looking for better ways to get quality staff that will enhance the outcome of their business.

Both “masters” are trained, promoted and supported within the Workamper News community.  Workamper News prepares those seeking to work while on the road in their RV through training courses, support, resume posting and job alerts, both on the web (http://www.workamper.com) and in their print magazine (Workamper News, ISSN  0895-3678).   Employers post their job announcements and offerings through the Workamper News magazine and/or on the website, or search the Awesome Applicants’ resumes to find the ideal employee.  More importantly, are the tools each Employer is given for hiring and marketing themselves to this selective group of employees.

For over 23 years, Workamper News has fulfilled its’ motto:  “helping great people find great jobs at great places.”   Perhaps a new motto for their other Master should be coined:  “helping great employers in great places find great workers.”

About Workamper News

Workamper News began in 1987 as an eight-page newsprint subscription periodical distributed to a niche market.  The term Workamper, a registered trademark, was coined by then-owners Greg and Debbie Robus, to describe anyone who combines any kind of work with the RV camping lifestyle. Designed to put mostly retired or semi-retired RVers and employers together, the publication initially focused on campground jobs.  Today, the four-color magazines  contain at least 62 pages of information about job vacancies from coast to coast in the United States and some in Canada, as well as features on great Workamping destinations, Workamper and Employer profiles, and general information pertaining to Workamping and Rving.  The introduction of the internet enabled Workamper News to expand its services through the years; besides the print and online magazine, members participate in a variety of forums, webinars, Hotline job advertisements, resume posting, blogs and communities, bookstore, email services and more. Employer clients post job opportunities, review resumes, showcase their campground, state or national park, or business opportunities.    Since 2005, owners Steve and Kathy Jo Anderson diligently manage the operations.  Daughter, Jody Anderson Duquette joined the Company in 2006 after earning a graphic design degree.  Techie-husband Luke Duquette, came on board in 2010.    Workamper News continues to expand their horizon, providing marketing tools for both Workampers and Employers to be successful.
