Arctic Monkeys turn down 'six figure' garden party offer

Arctic Monkeys reportedly turned down a six figure sum to play at a neighbourhood garden party.

The British indie band are staying at a mansion in Hollywood to record their fourth album, and despite being warned to behave when they moved in, the locals love having a rock band around.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "There was a suggestion that the neighbours might not be pleased, but most of the locals are bang-up for a good time. They're young, rich, party-loving and keen to make friends with the lads.

"One even offered six figures for them to play at their garden party but the group refused. The line, 'We're not performing monkeys' was said to have been used.

"While they were flattered with the offer to perform, it would mean ripping all their gear out of the studio.

"They decided against the idea, preferring a peaceful time at home."

The 'Cornerstone' band - made up of Alex Turner, Jamie Cook, Nick O'Malley and Matt Helders - are reportedly paying £30,000 to rent the house - worth £3 million - which lies in the same neighbourhood as homes belonging to Hustler magazine boss Larry Flynt and former 'Friends' star Jennifer Aniston.

The band are working with producer James Ford, who has worked on all three of their previous albums, on the new record, which will follow up 2009s 'Humbug'.
