Placerville, California authorities have arrested an elementary school custodian for the shooting death of the school’s principal. Classes at Schnell School were in session when 50-year-old Sam Lacara was shot in the upper torso on Wednesday. No one else at the school was injured. At least one student may have witnessed the shooting.
John Luebbers, a custodian at the school, was arrested in the incident. Police believe a dispute between Luebbers, 44, and Lacara is behind the shooting.
"It's a tragedy for Placerville and for our entire society," said Placerville Police Chief George Nielsen. "The main issue with how to deal with students was the ongoing investigation and the crime scene and ultimately that was to remove them (to a nearby fairground) and get them back to their families."
