Terrence Howard in the midst of a divorce battle

By: Tanya Gonzalez

Actor Terrence Howard is splitting from his wife, Michelle Ghent, after only a year of marriage.

Ghent was the one to file for the divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason. She is seeking spousal support and has asked Howard to pay for the legal fees.

The couple was married on January 20, 2010 and was separated on January 27 of this year.

The pair was spotted together at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah just six days before Ghent filed for divorce.

This is Howard’s third divorce, although he has only had two wives. He was twice married to Lori McCommas and has three children with her.

A divorce can be a tough process for anyone to deal with, especially if the couple has any children. Even the most neutral of splits can end badly, causing irreparable pain and suffering within a family. Since there are endless papers to be filled out and the legal jargon can become very tricky, those wishing to file for divorce or legal separation are urged to contact a divorce lawyer as soon as possible.

Divorce attorneys ensure that the entire process runs as smoothly and quickly as possible. They will sit down with the couple and determine the fairest way to split property, assets and debt and will also help to determine child custody arrangements and child support, always keeping the children’s best interests in mind.

Without a divorce lawyer, couples may end up fighting over who owns what and the situation can get very messy and out of hand. But with the help of a skilled paralegal, everything will be kept professional and each partner will get their due share.
