Foo Fighters documentary to premiere next month

A feature-length documentary about the Foo Fighters will be premiered next month.

Chronicling their 16 years as a band, the James Moll-directed film will premiere at the South By South West (SXSW) Festival in Texas, US, this March, before being given a full commercial release.

Frontman Dave Grohl says the project has enabled him and his bandmates to tell the story of their success in their own way.

He said: "In October of 1994, I walked into Robert Lang's Seattle studio with a guitar, a drum set, a bass and 14 songs I thought nobody would ever hear.

"Sixteen years and seven studio albums later, with the help of Academy Award winning director James Moll, we're finally able to tell the story of how that one demo cassette turned into the band that we are today.

"This is our side of the story. From the first rehearsal, to the completion of our new album, it's all there."

The documentary will go as far back as when singer and guitarist Dave was a drummer in Nirvana and continues through to the making of the band's forthcoming album, which will be released in April.

In support of the as-yet-untitled album, the band is playing at a number of music festivals across Europe and the US and are expected to launch a world tour after the album is released.
