Kate Middleton in iconic poster

Kate Middleton's face has been used in a reworking of a 'God Save The Queen' punk poster.

The bride-to-be - who will wed Britain's Prince William in April - has been worked into the image of a promotional poster for punk band the Sex Pistols which was produced in the Queen's Silver Jubilee year of 1977.

In the picture - which originally depicted the present Queen Elizabeth - 29-year-old Kate's face is styled in the former's likeness, with short hair and a tiara against the background of a paint splattered Union Jack flag.

The original work caused outrage as it depicted the monarch with her eyes ripped out and replaced by the words 'God save the Queen', the punk group's name printed across her mouth and the national flag in the background.

The new version has been created by artist Zoobs, real name Zoran Zarre, who has also modified the words of the original poster, to read 'God save the future Queen' with 'the next pistol' printed across Kate's mouth.

The piece is on display at the Opera Gallery in London's West End and 100 prints of the original image are being sold, with all profits going to charity.

A spokesperson for the gallery told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "He did this as a tribute to Kate Middleton. He sees her as a new fashionista very much like the Princess of Wales."
