The Boston Red Sox have dealt centerfielder Coco Crisp to the Kansas City Royals in exchange for Ramon Ramirez, a right-handed reliever who appeared in 71 games last year and posted a 2.64 ERA in 71 1/3 innings.
Crisp had a solid year with the Red Sox, hitting .283 with seven homeruns and 41 RBIs but Boston has a stockpile of outfielders and have Jacoby Ellsbury pegged as their everyday centerfielder.
With Ramirez, the Red Sox will have a strong set-up man for closer Jonathan Papelbon.
