AP Top 25 College Football Schedule Thursday: #23 Miami Hurricanes Face Georgia Tech in ACC Showdown

The #23 Miami Hurricanes (7-3, 4-2) will be heading into Atlanta on Thursday to take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (7-3, 4-3) in a game that could help clear the muddled ACC Coastal picture or cause more confusion as the season draws to a close.

The Hurricanes are currently sitting atop the ACC Coastal, ½ a game ahead of the Yellow Jackets, but North Carolina, Virginia Tech and Virginia all sit at 3-3 in the conference and have a shot at playing in the ACC title game as well.

Tech has posted a 5-1 record at home and have been in and out of the AP Top 25 throughout the year but last week’s loss to North Carolina hurt and they now find themselves in a must-win scenario and likely in need of the Tar Heels dropping one of their final two ACC games to represent the Coastal in the championship game.

Miami will have to find a way to get through the Yellow Jackets defense, ranked #11 in the nation after holding opponents to just 16.1 points per game. The Hurricanes, winners of five straight, certainly have the offense to put up points though as they have topped 39 points four times this year.

Ga. Tech will focus on the running game with Jonathan Dwyer getting the bulk of the carries as the sophomore running back averages 105 yards per game. That will play to the strength of the Hurricanes defense which ranks #14 in rushing yards allowed.

Kickoff for the game is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
