Mexico’s Notimex news agency reports the mutilated bodies of 5 men were discovered Sunday. The bodies were dumped along a road in Los Ramones, a town in the northern state of Nuevo Leon. Authorities have released very few any details on the discovery.
Also over the weekend in Nuevo Leon, authorities found the remains of missing prison guard chief Francisco Martinez Ramirez. Ramirez’s body had been dismembered and left inside a car in a parking lot in Monterrey. Ramirez, 60, was abducted from his home Friday. His body was discovered on Saturday.
In other news, 13 people died in three separate incidents involving soldiers and gunmen. In each incident gunmen opened fire on soldiers and the soldiers fought back. The first shootout occurred in San Fernando and left 6 people dead. The second happened in San Fernando and also left 6 people dead while the third happened in Valle Hermoso and only 1 person was killed.
