Rocker Gary Moore has died at the age of 58. The Thin
Lizzy guitarist was found dead in his room at the Kempinski Hotel in Estepona,
Spain. The cause of death has not been determined.
Moore broke into the music industry in 1968 as a member
of the group Skid Row. He then joined Thin Lizzy in the mid-seventies and was
an on-and-off member until the eighties. Moore went on to enjoy a successful
solo career. He often collaborated with Thin Lizzy frontman Phil Lynott to produce
hits like “Parisienne Walkways” and “Out in the Fields.”
Thin Lizzy drummer Brian Downey issued a statement on
Moore’s death saying, "I am in total shock. I have known Gary since 1967
when he was in Platform Three and he's been an amazing friend ever since. It
was a pleasure to play with Gary again in 2006 after his days with Lizzy. He
will always be in my thoughts and prayers and I just can't believe he is
gone."
Guitarist Scott Gorham also commented on his death. "Playing
with Gary during the Black Rose era was a great experience. He was a great
player and a great guy. I will miss him,” he said.
