The federal district court judge overseeing the litigation involving the recalled DePuy hip implants will be holding his first status conference concerning the consolidated DePuy hip implant cases. On Tuesday, February 8, 2011, the Hon. David A. Katz of the U.S. District Court of the Northern District of Ohio will meet with the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee, followed by an open court conference at 1:00 p.m. EST.
The DePuy hip implant status conference comes just days after the news that Johnson & Johnson, the parent company of DePuy Orthopaedics (which announced a recall of the DePuy hip implants last August), has reduced its net earnings for the fourth quarter of 2010 by $922 million to account for “the net impact of litigation settlements, product liability expense and costs associated with” the DePuy hip recall.
The consumer injury law firm Bernstein Liebhard LLP, which is actively investigating and litigating cases on behalf of Bernstein Liebhard’s clients who have undergone DePuy hip implant surgery, will continue to report on developments in the DePuy hip recall cases.
Since DePuy was forced to recall its defective hip implant in August, Bernstein Liebhard has provided a wealth of consumer information concerning the defective DePuy hip implant on its website, consumerinjurylawyers.com. If you or a loved one have had hip replacement surgery and have been implanted with a defective DePuy hip, you may be entitled to compensation for medical bills, pain and suffering, lost wages, and other injuries.
