Former Head of Mexico’s Anti-Organized Crime Agency Arrested

Noe Ramirez, the former head of Mexico’s anti-organized crime agency, has become the latest official arrested in relation to an investigation, dubbed “Operation Limpieza, “ that has focused on officials who may have had ties to drug cartels.”

Ramirez resigned from his position with the Special Organized Crime Investigation Division in July following an initiative by President Felipe Calderon.

Investigators suspect Ramirez was being paid upward of $450,000 a month by a drug cartel for information regarding investigations.
