Lindsay Lohan in talks for Superman

Lindsay Lohan is in talks for a role in 'Superman: Man of Steel'.

The troubled actress - who left rehab after a court-ordered stint last month - is said to be determined to get her career back on track and has set her sights on landing a part opposite Henry Cavill in the forthcoming reboot of the superhero franchise.

A source said: "It's true, she's in the talking stage now.

"Lindsay wants a part in this movie bad. Ever since news broke that Henry Cavill was cast, she did everything in her power to track down his number and try and set up a meeting with him and the studio."

However, the insiders refused to comment on whether Lindsay was in the running for the female lead of Lois Lane - which Olivia Wilde and Kristen Stewart have previously been linked with - saying only it was a "major" part.

Lindsay's mother Dina Lohan said: "We really can't make a comment at this time."

The 24-year-old beauty has had a troubled personal life in recent months, enduring a three-month stint in rehab and serving 12 days in prison as part of a sentence for breaching the terms of probation set for a 2007 driving under the influence conviction.

Friends of the star say she is determined to land a high-profile role to re-establish her credentials as an actress.

A source said: "She's serious about making a comeback. No alcohol, no drugs. She wants people to remember why she was famous in the first place, and that's because she's talented."

The new film will be directed by Zack Snyder and released in December 2012.
