Meryl Streep joins romantic comedy Great Hope Springs

Meryl Streep has signed up to star in romantic comedy 'Great Hope Springs'.

The two-time Oscar winning actress - who recently began shooting Margaret Thatcher biopic 'The Iron Lady' - will work with 'Devil Wears Prada' director David Frankel on the project about a middle-aged couple who decide to deal with their troubled marriage by attending a therapy weekend to examine intimacy issues.

Vanessa Taylor wrote the script to the movie, which will be produced by Guymon Casady and Todd Black.

It is not yet known who will play the leading man in the movie - Jeff Bridges was once believe to be partaking but since seems to have passed.

Shooting on 'Great Hope Springs' is expected to star in August.

Meryl has seen a quiet few years following a busy 2009 - last year she appeared in Lisa Kudrow's comedy TV series 'Web Therapy', and recently revealed her joy at playing former British Prime Minister Thatcher.

Speaking about her preparation for the role, she said: "I am trying to approach the role with as much zeal, fervour and attention to detail as the real Lady Thatcher possesses - I can only hope my stamina will begin to approach her own."
