Mater Dei (CA) Sits Atop USA Today Super 25 Preseason HS Basketball Rankings

Mater Dei (Santa Ana, CA) is the preseason No. 1 team in the nation according to USA Today's Super 25 high school basketball rankings.

The Monarchs return four starters from a 35-1 team that won the CIF Division II state title last season. Led by twins David Wear and Travis Wear, both of which committed to North Carolina, the Monarchs will fill their starting lineup with junior transfer Tyler Lamb, who has committed to UCLA.

Duncanville (TX), Lincoln (Brooklyn, NY), Findlay Prep (Henderson, NV), and St. Patrick (Elizabeth, NJ) round out the top five.

Duncanville is equipped with one of the most stacked rosters in high school basketball with at least eight Division 1 prospects. Lincoln is led by superstar talent Lance Stephenson, who will look to lead the Railsplitters to their fourth consecutive City championship.

Findlay Prep enters the rankings after dropping their post-graduate program, but are still led by several transfers, such as Avery Bradley (Texas recruit) and D.J. Richardson (Illinois). St. Patrick, a perennial powerhouse, is led by UNC recruit Dexter Strickland and sophomore phenom Michael Gilchrist.
