Emmanuelle Alt wants actresses for French Vogue

Emmanuelle Alt will consider breaking with tradition and put actresses on the cover of French Vogue.

The stylish editor-in-chief - who has recently taken over at the fashion bible from Carine Roitfeld - says she is happy to look into using screen beauties such as Marion Cotillard or Charlotte Gainsbourg for her photo shoots because they are so glamorous.

She explained: "We don't have a systematic point of view on using celebrities on the front cover. But here in France we are back in a much more glamorous time. French actresses were respected, but not so evidently in the fashion world. Now we have Marion Cotillard, Charlotte Gainsbourg; I'd be very happy to put an actress on the cover if she is the right girl."

Emmanuelle worked as fashion director at the famous publication under Carine's editorship and she hopes to continue taking part in photo shoots as before, despite her new responsibilities.

She told usvogue.com: "I am going to keep shooting for the magazine - hopefully a story every issue. Daria Werbowy is the girl I work with the most. She has a natural, strong beauty. You can put her in a white tee and she will make it look fantastic. I like Kate Moss too, because she cares about clothes. Most models don't care what you put them in, they just play the game."
