Man Recovering after Panda Attack at Zoo

A 20-year-old man was attacked by a panda at a park in China after he scaled a 6.5-foot wall to enter its enclosure in hopes of giving the black and white bear a hug.

Instead of a hug the panda bit the man’s arms and legs and he had to be rescued by animal keepers.

The man, a student at a university in Guilin, was taken to a local hospital where he is expected to recover. He told reporters he thought the panda looked cute and wanted to cuddle with it so he ignored the sign warning visitors not to enter the enclosure.

Zoo officials said the panda, named Yang Yang, became frightened by the man and attacked.
