Accident Involving Ambulance Ends in Death

In Brighton NY, a collision which occurred Sunday 2/6 around 2:00 pm involving a passenger car and an ambulance on a non-emergency run ends in the death of 82 year old, Erwin Leonard.  While heading north on 590, the ambulance transporting Leonard from the Jewish Home to Highland hospital was hit by a southbound passenger car. The driver of the car, 84 year old Edith Warner and her passenger 98 year old Abe Levitt suffered serious injuries and were taken to the hospital. The EMTs were fortunate and suffered only minor injuries. According to Brighton police Sgt. Michael DeSain, the exact cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Studies conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicate that people over the age of 65 are more likely to be involved in motor vehicle crashes due to slower reaction times and misjudgment of distance which increase the need for accident lawyers.
