FRN Experts In the News and On the Small Screen

USA Today, NBC, CBS and Fox affiliates tap Foundations Recovery Network executives for expert opinions on treatment and recovery issues

Foundations Recovery Network, one of the premier organizations for treating those with addiction and mental health disorders, has been in the news in a variety of ways recently, providing expert opinions and educating the public on the topics of substance use and recovery.

USA Today quoted Michael’s House CEO Krista Gilbert in a recent article about Lindsay Lohan’s troubled stay in rehab. Lohan was receiving court-ordered treatment at the Betty Ford Center in Palm Springs, Calif., but the process wasn't problem-free. An employee was recently fired for leaking a report to the tabloids about a battery charge filed against Lohan for injuring the employee’s wrist, leaving it severely strained. The national daily newspaper consulted FRN’s Gilbert, who runs our Palm Springs residential treatment facility, to explain the possible reasons why Lohan has had so much difficulty.

“Lohan’s behavior while she has been in the Coachella Valley is typical of someone who is forced into rehab,” Gilbert was quoted as saying. The article went on to say, “court-ordered rehab — what [Gilbert] dubbed ‘coerced treatment’ — usually doesn’t work.”

Gilbert isn’t the only FRN expert providing educational information related to substance abuse and treatment. Foundation Recovery Network’s CEO Rob Waggener and La Paloma Treatment Center CEO Paige Bottom have embarked on a media tour to educate the public about addiction and recovery.

Waggener appeared on Nashville’s More at Midday, aired on the local NBC affiliate, addressing the timely topic of addiction and the holidays as well as providing more detailed information about FRN’s co-occurring treatment methods. Meanwhile in Memphis, Bottom appeared on both Fox 13′s Good Morning Memphis and WMC Channel 5’s Morning News, addressing recovery solutions available at Memphis-based La Paloma treatment center and highlighting FRN’s Sober Hero campaign (www.soberhero.com). Bottom also appeared on WBBJ Channel 7 in Jackson and ABC’s Channel 24 in Memphis. Additional spots are planned for this month.
