AP Top 25 College Football Scores: #7 Penn State Nittany Lions Clinch Big Ten Title with Win Over #17 Michigan State Spartans

Daryll Clark threw for 341 yards and four touchdowns and added a TD on the ground, Evan Royster rushed for 79 yards, Deon Butler had 133 yards and three touchdowns on three catches and Jordan Norwood had 127 yards receiving on five receptions as the #7 Penn State Nittany Lions (11-1, 7-1) locked up the Big Ten title and a trip to the Rose Bowl with a 49-18 blowout of the #17 Michigan State Spartans (9-3, 6-2) on Saturday.

Penn State dominated from the start as Clark played a role in three of the Nittany Lions first four touchdowns in the opening half to take a 28-0 lead. Clark hooked up with Graham Zug on a 5-yard toss for a 7-0 advantage, Dan Lawlor rushed for a 4-yard TD, Clark then scored on a one-yard run and he followed that up with a 32-yard TD pass to Derrick Williams.

The Spartans managed to close out the first half with a touchdown as Javon Ringer scored from one yard out but the nation’s third leading rusher had a tough day as the Penn State defense held him to just 42 yards on the day.

In the third quarter Clark picked up where he left off as he hit Butler on touchdown passes of 4 yards and 70 yards to take a 42-7 and in the fourth Butler hauled in a Pat Devlin toss and took it 59-yards for a touchdown.

Michigan State tacked on a pair of TDs in the final frame but it did little to influence the outcome of the game.
