My Big Fat 'embarrassing' Gypsy Wedding

'My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding' is reportedly making life hell for travellers across the UK.

Traveller Caroline believes the Channel 4 documentary series - which attracted a staggering 8.2million viewers this week - is tarnishing the community it claims to represent, and is an "insulting" embarrassment to gypsy communities across the UK.

Caroline, who refuses to use her real identity in case of revenge attacks by the families taking part in the show, admitted she was initially excited about the show, which follows gypsy families as they celebrate lavish weddings, communions and other event.

However, she now claims it's destroying people's lives, and she was even forced to book her son's first Holy Communion under a false name after being turned away by the priest.

She explained: "I thought it was good that people would be made aware of travellers. We suffer a lot of discrimination. You're always scared that the neighbours will find out who you are and the kids will get bullied.

"We can't even book wedding receptions under our real names. If the venue finds out, they cancel. Millions have watched it, but all anyone is talking about are the dresses. We're a laughing stock."

Caroline also slammed 'Daybreak' host Christine Bleakley for donning a huge gypsy wedding dress on the ITV1 breakfast show last month.

She added to Reveal magazine: "When Christine Bleakley wore a big pink wedding dress on Daybreak, it was very insulting. You wouldn't dare laugh at an Indian woman in a sari."
