Cleveland Cavaliers Lose 26th Straight Game
Loss tied professional sports record set by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
By losing to the Detroit Pistons 103-94 last night, the Cleveland Cavaliers have tied the professional sports record for consecutive losses with 26. The only other professional team to lose as many games was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their first two years as a franchise during the 70's.
The team has been in a tailspin since the summer departure of Lebron James, who infamously "took his talents to Miami." They have only won 8 games this season, and have dropped a staggering 36 of their last 37, including 11 straight at home.
Both players and coaches seem unable to explain what has happened to a team that made the playoffs last year. Players are unable to account for how they can't fight back in games, and coaches cannot understand how a team can come out to play a game with no energy. Playing for pride is the one thing that the Cavaliers have left to do and they can't seem to even do that.
The Cavaliers play host again Friday night to the Clippers and rookie phenom Blake Griffin. The Clippers have not played well on the road this year, but coming of a win in New York against the Knicks will be feeling good. And nobody wants to lose to a team playing as poorly as the Cavs are.
