NFL No Closer to CBA Agreement After Meetings Wednesday
League moves closer to lockout as owners walk away
NFL Owners walked away from bargaining talks with the NFL Players Association. The Players Association proposed a half and half split of league profits that the owners did not agree too. There was a second meeting proposed for Thursday that has been canceled due to the disputes that arose Wednesday.
The Owners would like to see the Players Association receive around 40% of revenue from the league.According to DeMaurice Smith, this would be the smallest percentage of players share of any professional sports league.
The Players proposed a 50% split of the revenues, but offered a credit to any team that reinvested in stadium improvement. This incentive would create increased revenue for the league and greater overall earnings.
