Officials say a teenage suicide bomber wearing a school uniform killed 42 people Thursday when he detonated explosives at a military training center in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. The dead included army recruits. About 42 others were wounded.
The boy was around 14-years-old. A senior military official said the child was likely pretending to be a student at the school for recruit’s children, which is located inside the Punjab Regiment Center.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack and vowed to “continue targeting Pakistan military until it stops supporting the U.S.”
The Punjab Regiment Center is located in the district of Mardan, which is about 31 miles north of Peshawar.
