Syracuse University Lockdown Lifted Following Shots Fired Near Campus

Syracuse University in upstate New York has lifted its “Orange Alert,” a lockdown of the school’s campus, after authorities determined the university was safe following an episode in which shots were fired near the school.

 

While the shooting was said to have occurred several blocks from the Syracuse campus university officials opted to send students a notice declaring the lockdown as a precaution.

 

The shooting reportedly took place as a man was sitting in a parked car and a second car pulled up and opened fire.

 

On the Syracuse University Web site the “Orange Alert” was lifted after declaring, “The shooting victim is not affiliated with the University, and the suspect vehicle, a silver Hyundai Elentra, was last seen heading north away from campus
