ESPN USA Today Top 25 Rankings College Basketball Week 2: UNC Tar Heels Keep Top Spot, Big East Holds 2, 3 and 4
The ESPN USA Today top 25 rankings for college basketball are out and the UNC Tar Heels have kept their spot atop the poll after impressive wins over Kentucky and UC Santa Barbara. North Carolina collected all 31 first-place votes.
While the Tar Heels kept their #1 ranking they are feeling pressure from the Big East as the powerhouse conference landed the #2, #3 and #4 spots in the list with the Connecticut Huskies, Louisville Cardinals and Pittsburgh Panthers taking the spots.
The Panthers jumped past Duke after a big week in which they rattled off three wins while the Blue Devils did the same but seemed to pay the price for UCLA losing to Michigan. The Blue Devils kept their spot at #5.
The loss to Michigan dropped the UCLA Bruins to #11 this week.
Notre Dame provided the Big East with their fourth team in the Top Eight as the Irish inched up a spot at #8.
Xavier vaulted into the Top 25 to land at #20 after knocking off then #12 Memphis.
