Lily Cole has landed a role in 'Doctor Who'.
The 22-year-old supermodel is to appear alongside Matt Smith and Karen Gillan - who play the Time Lord and his faithful assistant Amy Pond in the BBC One sci-fi drama - as a mysterious sea creature in an episode set in the 1600s, which will see the Tardis land on top of an eerie pirate ship.
Lily said: "It's a great script and a fun character and I am glad to be involved."
According to one insider, the flame-haired beauty "jumped at the chance" to feature in the series as she's a huge fan of 'Doctor Who'.
The source added to The Sun newspaper: "Lily's a big fan of the show and jumped at the chance to appear. She will play a sea creature in an episode based around a well-known tale.
"It's a real ocean adventure."
However, Lily is not the first high-profile 'Doctor Who' fan to land a role in the BBC series.
After Welsh opera singer Katherine Jenkins played Abigail in the show's Christmas special, she admitted appearing in the drama made her "more nervous" than any of her performances.
She said: "It was far worse than any nerves I've ever had for any performance. I spent a lot of time thinking about it. It's such an iconic show, and it's one that we watch as a family. I just thought, 'I'd love to give it a try'."
