Lakers Rally to Beast Celtics in Boston
Ray Allen breaks record for 3 pointers in loss
Ray Allen broke Reggie Miller's record for career 3 point shots made in the first quarter of the Celtics loss. He tied the record with a little more than four minutes remaining in the first quarter, and broke the record nearly two and a half minutes later. The celebration was short lived though, as Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers came back from 15 points down to win the game 92-86.
Bryant scored 23 points on the night to avenge an early loss to the Celtics in January. In that game he scored 41 points but the Lakers were unable win in Los Angeles. Pau Gasol added 20 points and 10 rebounds of his own while Andrew Bynum scored 16 points to go along with 9 rebounds.
The Celtics were playing without Jermaine O'Neal and Shaquille O'Neal and lacked a rebounding presence in the game. Allen finished the game with 20 points, but Kevin Garnett was only able to score 10 points in the contest.
Reggie Miller was on hand to congratulate Allen after his record was broken. He was working the game for TNT.
