Nuggets Defeat Mavericks at the Buzzer

Carmelo Anthony fouls out in win

The Denver Nuggets beat the Dallas Mavericks 121-120 on Arron Afflalo's buzzer beating shot Thursday night.  Afflalo had to step up in place of Carmelo Anthony who fouled out of the game with just under 20 seconds left.  Anthony did his part before fouling out by scoring 42 points and grabbing 7 rebounds.  The Nugget's Chauncey Billups added 30 points of his own to keep pace with the Mavericks.  Dallas's Jason Terry put up 25 points and teammate Tyson Chandler scored 20 points to go along with 11 rebounds.  Dirk Nowitzki had 16 points.

The win is a big one for the Nuggets, who have been surrounded by trade rumors involving Anthony for weeks.  The New Jersey Nets have been trying to put together a three team deal for Anthony, while just recently the Los Angeles Lakers have joined the talks, looking to trade for Anthony and possibly move Andrew Bynum.

Anthony has said that he wants to play in New York for the Knicks, but recently has made statements that he may sign a contract extension in Denver.  His play has not been affected by the rumors, he is scoring almost 40 points a game for his last 5 games.
