Beyonce 'pumped' to headline Glastonbury

Beyonce Knowles says she's "pumped" to be headlining this year's Glastonbury music festival.

The 'Crazy In Love' singer will perform on the Pyramid Stage as the closing act of the world famous event in Somerset, South West England, on Sunday 26 June, joining other reported headliners U2 and Coldplay.

In a statement released by Columbia Records, she said: "This really is the biggest festival in the world and I cannot wait to perform there. Everyone who attends is really appreciative of music and is in such a good mood that entire weekend.

"I'm pumped just thinking about that huge audience and soaking up their energy."

Although she has never performed at Glastonbury before, Beyonce did visit the festival in 2008 when husband Jay-Z headlined and organiser Michael Eavis has previously said he is keen to bring another huge US name to the event.

He said: "There's an American artist that I've been wanting to have for years and yonks and yonks and yonks."

Because U2 were forced to cancel last year's appearance, Michael has always said the band would perform in 2011, while Coldplay have been rumoured for months.

Last year, Gorillaz replaced U2 as headliners, with Muse and Stevie Wonder talking the other places on the bill.

The festival takes place from June 24-26.
