“Hannity and Colmes” to Split at End of Year

The twelve year working relationship forged by Sean Hannity and Alan Colmes will end at the close of 2008 after it was announced Colmes would leave the popular “Hannity and Colmes” show broadcast on FOX.

Colmes will remain a commentator on FOX while continuing his “Alan Colmes Show” on FOX News Radio. He is also developing a weekend show for the network. Colmes, who provided the liberal counterpart to Holmes’ conservative viewpoints, revealed the decision stating, “I approached Bill Shine (FNC’s Senior Vice President of Programming) earlier this year about wanting to move on after 12 years to develop new and challenging ways to contribute to the growth of the network.”

His statement continued, “Although it’s bittersweet to leave one of the longest marriages on cable news, I’m proud that both Sean and I remained unharmed after sitting side by side, night after night for so many years.”

“Hannity and Colmes” was the second-highest rated cable news show on television, trailing on FOX’s “The O’Reilly Factor.”
