Lindsay Lohan's plea deal is likely to include a jail term.
The troubled actress - who served 12 days of a 90-day prison sentence last year for breaching the terms of probation set following a 2007 driving under the influence case - is hoping to reach an agreement over her current felony grand theft case, and insiders but Deputy District Attorney Danette Meyers is insisting any agreement includes time behind bars.
A source said: "Meyers is standing her ground and saying that any deal for Lindsay include jail time This is a felony charge, and Lindsay has a criminal record. Meyers won't back down on this.
"Both sides are now at an impasse.
"Lindsay would be put on felony probation, and under those terms, Lindsay can be sentenced to up to one year in LA County Jail. With jail overcrowding, Lindsay would only serve 25 per cent of the sentence."
However, the 24-year-old star - who is accused of stealing a $2,500 necklace from upmarket Californian boutique Kamofie & Company - will reject any deal if it involves a prison term.
Another source told RadarOnline.com: "Lindsay will do anything to not go back to jail. She can't deal with jail again. If push comes to shove, Lindsay will go to trial on this case if a deal can't be reached."
Lindsay pleaded not guilty to stealing the necklace and sources say she was allowed to borrow the accessory, only for the store to backtrack after she failed to get them publicity.
The 'Machete' star must return to court for another hearing on February 23.
