Amanda Holden thanks fans for support

Amanda Holden has thanked fans for their support after losing her baby.

The 'Britain's Got Talent' judge - whose son was stillborn earlier this month, seven months into her pregnancy - took to twitter for the first time since the tragedy to express her and husband Chris Hughes' gratitude for the well-wishes of her followers.

She tweeted: "Chris and I would like to thank you all for the thousands of messages offering support and love during this horrendous time.xx"

The message is the first time Amanda - who also has a five-year-old daughter Lexi with Chris - has made any public comment since the tragedy.

The 39-year-old star was due to film promotional clips for 'Britain's Got Talent' today (14.02.11) but her agents have "cleared the decks" of work for the foreseeable future.

A source said: "It's far too early to have a conversation about work.

"Chris has taken Amanda away - they just want to grieve together in private. They are a strong, solid couple and they just want to be alone together right now."

Amanda and Chris are still awaiting the results of tests to find out why the tragedy happened.

Her spokesperson said: "Tests on the baby will hopefully shed light on what happened. Amanda's completely devastated and in shock."
