Mass Grave Containing Al Qaeda Victims Discovered in Iraq

Iraqi police discovered a mass grave Saturday that containing more than 100 bodies of Al Qaeda victims. Diyala province police chief Abdul Hussein al-Sahamari said a terrorist in police custody told authorities about the grave, which is located south of Baquba in Buhriz. The grave contains 153 bodies, many of which are women and children.

"Following a confession by a terrorist arrested two weeks ago in Baquba we discovered a mass grave containing 153 bodies of people killed by al-Qaeda in 2006 and 2007," said al-Sahamari. "The terrorist confessed that he and other members of Al-Qaeda had murdered the victims during those years. There are bodies of women, children, civilians, policemen and soldiers.”

Some of the victim’s hands were bound behind their backs while others were blindfolded.
