Jesse Eisenberg knew Social Network would be 'special'.

Jesse Eisenberg always had faith 'The Social Network' would be "special".

The 27-year-old actor - who plays Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in the movie based on the social networking website - admitted the film's subject matter could be perceived as boring but says it worked because of the script writer Aaron Sorkin.

He said: "When I first got the script I saw that it was written by Aaron Sorkin so I immediately knew it would be something very special.

"You know, Aaron is one of my favourite writers of all time and everything he writes is so interesting and unique and the fact that it was about a website was almost completely irrelevant."

Jesse has won Best Actor awards from the National Board of Review and Screen Actors Guild as well as nominations for the Academy Awards, BAFTAs and Golden Globes for the role but admitted he is incredibly self-critical and hates watching himself on screen.

Speaking to Absolute Radio's Ben Jones, he said: "I usually watch movies I've been in once and then try to avoid it because it's just a bit uncomfortable to see myself from all different angles and things I've done wrong in it."

Earlier this month he revealed he has regular sessions with a psychologist, who has advised him to start watching his own films more.

He said: "My therapist says that I should watch my films because you have to treat it with respect."
