Matt Baker promises no scandals

Matt Baker believes he was asked to replace Jason Manford on 'The One Show' because he's uncontroversial.

The 'Countryfile' star becomes Alex Jones' full time co-host on the BBC One evening show tonight (14.02.11) - following the resignation of Jason after he was caught sending sexy twitter messages behind his wife's back - and he says bosses won't need to worry about his behaviour because he's a happily married father-of-two.

The former 'Blue Peter' presenter said: "The BBC haven't given me any warning about using twitter or anything to be honest. They have booked me, and I think they have booked me for a reason.

"I don't think they feel they need to give me a load of warnings, I haven't had that conversation. You are in the public and that harks back to when I was on Blue Peter. You learn there are children looking at who you are and what you do. You have to beware of that.

"But I am not the kind of guy who goes out nightclubbing every night at all. I'm with my family, that is where my priority is."

Matt - who finished as runner-up on last year's 'Strictly Come Dancing' - says he can't wait to get the work on 'The One Show' as it represents the whole of the UK.

He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "At its heart, it is Britain as we know it. D'you know what I mean? That has developed it over the years, and there is such a good mix which changes all the time.

"You don't even have to come in a watch the whole show, you can just dip in and out of it with three minute sections. And people can relate to it. Because it is an eclectic mix there is something for everyone whatever age you are. It is nice to talk to the personalities and get their views about other topics they are not so well know for and it is intriguing in one way."
